Samvedana Society :

Shri Labhubhai Sonani’s Noble Mission – ‘Samvedna Society’

‘Samvedna Society’ is not merely the name of an organization; it is a sacred mantra for social renaissance, deeply rooted in compassion, empathy, and active altruism. In an era dominated by individualistic mindsets, this ideology beautifully weaves the timeless Indian values of *'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' (The World is One Family) and 'Parmath' (Selfless Service) into a modern social framework.

1. Educational Institutions: The Nurseries of Empathy

While social service is traditionally seen as the responsibility of adults, the most beautiful innovation of this movement is that it places school and college students right at its beating heart.

Sowing the Seeds of Virtue: Since gaining momentum in 2019, this mission has united over 1,600 schools and colleges across the Bhavnagar and Botad districts. The Core Structure: Within each school, a dedicated group of 10 individuals— comprising 7 students, 2 teachers, and 1 principal**—serves as a cradle for nurturing the 'empathetic citizens' of tomorrow

2. Not Pity, but the Spirit of 'Equality'

This profound ideology draws a clear line between mere 'pity' and true 'empathy.'

Instead of treating the underprivileged as objects of charity, it strives to empower them so they can claim their rightful, dignified place in the mainstream of society.

It holds a special focus on the differently-abled (Divyangjan), aiming to make them completely self-reliant through targeted education, meaningful employment, and holistic rehabilitation.

3. Widespread Social Impact and Milestones

This philosophy lives far beyond words on paper; its impact is beautifully reflected in real-world actions and statistics:

Aspect Details
Geographical Reach Over 1,600 active groups blossoming across Bhavnagar and Botad districts.
The Epicenter School and college campuses acting as hubs of change.
Recent Milestone A grand celebration of humanity—the 'Samvedna Parva'—organized on March 15, 2026, at the sacred land of Bagdana.
The Ultimate Goal To bridge the gap and deliver government and social welfare schemes directly to the last person in the queue.

4. The Journey: From "Jeevan No Dhabkar" to "Samvedna Society"

This ideology is like a perennial river. Just as 'Jeevan No Dhabkar' captured the early chapters of struggles and cherished memories, this movement has now transitioned into the grander vision of ‘Samvedna Society’.

This transition represents the expansion of service, institutionalizing compassion so that it may endure and inspire generation after generation. It beautifully blends literature with social service—where the poetic joy of 'Umang' meets a relentless effort to dispel the darkness from real, human lives.

5. Harmonizing Technology and Humanity

This progressive ideology embraces modernity. By utilizing assistive technologies like the Orbit Reader 20 and Talk-back, it transforms the physical challenges of the visually impaired into life-changing opportunities. It proves that even in the absence of eyesight, one can illuminate the entire world with the light of 'inner vision' and pure empathy.

5. Harmonizing Technology and Humanity

The Core Philosophy: When a child learns to wipe the tears of another, they do not just help a human being—they transform into an extraordinary human being themselves. This is the true essence of the *Samvedna* movement. The Sacred Activities of the 'Group of Ten' In the vision of Samvedna Society, schools offer much more than textbook knowledge; they provide 'Education of the Heart.' Students are not passive spectators here; they are active catalysts of social transformation. The 10-member team in every school pours its heart into the following activities:

1. Identifying and Supporting Underprivileged Students

Students actively look out for peers within their schools or neighborhoods who are being pushed away from education due to financial, physical, social, or emotional hardships

Educational Kits: Providing uniforms, books, and essential stationery Tuition Fee Support: Connecting bright but underprivileged students with generous donors and institutional funds to secure their academic future.

2. Awareness and Compassion for the Differently-Abled

This activity is the very soul of Samvedna Society. Students are taught that being differently-abled is not a limitation, but a unique way of being. The Companion Approach: Walking hand-in-hand with differently-abled peers—helping them write notes, navigating the cafeteria, or guiding them to the school bus.

Assistive Aids: Acting as a bridge to provide wheelchairs, hearing aids, or Braille equipment to blind students.

3. Becoming a Bridge to Government Schemes Often

those living on the margins of society remain completely unaware of the welfare benefits meant for them. Here, students step in as 'messengers of hope': Helping eligible individuals fill out forms for disability pensions, free bus passes, and scholarships.

Creating awareness among parents and neighbors at the village level about these crucial resources.

4. Cultivating Compassion Through Social and Cultural Events To sensitize young hearts, unique and immersive activities are regularly organized:

Activity Form Objective
Samvedna Sabha Short reflections during morning prayers Awakening kindness and the natural instinct to help others.
Visit Trips to old age homes and specialized shelters Dispelling the loneliness of elders and sharing moments of joy.
Creative Expression Essay and elocution competitions on empathy Giving voice and language to social responsibility.

5. 'Samvedna Parva' and the Power of Unity

Students do not limit their kindness to school boundaries; they actively participate in mega-gatherings like the one held at Bagdana.

Teamwork: Over 1,600 schools weave together to form a colossal, unbreakable network of empathy. Leadership: This active involvement brings forth natural leadership qualities, shaping students into deeply responsible citizens of tomorrow

Special Note: The driving thought behind these efforts is that when students graduate and step into the world, they must carry not just a report card of marks, but a heart deeply sensitive to the pain of others.

The Organizational Backbone: A Grassroots Structure

The organizational framework of Samvedna Society is meticulously designed, ensuring that its vision is pulse-checked daily on the ground, rather than just remaining on paper.

1. The Foundation: "The Team of Ten" This is the building block of the entire society. Just as a magnificent structure relies on its bricks, Samvedna Society stands firm on this team: 1 Principal (Team Leader): Acts as the visionary guide, steering the implementation of this philosophy across the campus.

2. Teachers (Mentors): Direct the students' energy, shaping raw enthusiasm into structured, meaningful activities. 7 Students (Active Volunteers): The true hands and feet of the organization. They go out into the field, identify those in need, and deliver immediate support.

3. District and Taluka Level Integration With more than 1,600 teams thriving in Bhavnagar and Botad, the higher-level coordination is seamless:

Level Role/ Designation Core Responsibility
Institutional Shri Labhubhai Sonani (General Secretary) Conceptualizing the overarching vision, providing guidance, and designing new initiatives.
District Level District Coordination Committee Bridging the gap between schools and executing mega-events like *Samvedna Parva
Taluka Level Taluka Representatives Inspiring local schools and keeping track of grassroots progress reports.

4. Detailed Roles of the Change Makers Students (The Change Makers): Constantly keeping an eye out to ensure no child in their vicinity is deprived of education; assisting the differentlyabled with official paperwork; and contributing micro-savings to cultivate a lifelong habit of charity.

Teachers (The Guides): Sharing deeply moving stories during morning assemblies to spark empathy; validating the needs of identified casesbefore forwarding them; and keeping the students' passion burning bright

Principals (The Administrators): Fostering an atmosphere of deep compassion within the school; connecting local donors and parents with the mission; and proudly representing the school at regional summits.

Looking to the Future: Decisions from the Bagdana Mahakumbh The 'Samvedna Parva' celebrated on March 15, 2026, in the holy sanctuary of Bagdana, was not a mere convention; it was a grand gathering (Mahakumbh) that carved out a revolutionary path for social service. Representatives from over 1,600 schools gathered to make monumental decisions for the future

1. State-Wide Expansion of 'Samvedna Society'

The flame lit in Bhavnagar is now set to illuminate the entire state of Gujarat:

The New Horizon: On Saturday, April 25, 2026, during a pivotal meeting of the NAB State Branch held at the Blind People's Association (BPA), Ahmedabad, a historic resolution was passed. Under the esteemed presence of Shri G. J. Vachhani (General Secretary, NAB State Branch), Dr. Bhushan Punani (General Secretary, BPA Ahmedabad), and Shri Nandiniben Rawal (Executive Director, BPA Ahmedabad), it was officially decided to expand this beautiful model—running successfully since 2019—to schools and colleges across all districts of Gujarat under local branch supervision.

Digital Connectivity: To unite this expanding family, every school’s *Samvedna Group* has been linked via a digital platform.

2. Deepening the Commitment to Education and Rehabilitation

Zero Drop-Out Mission: The local school groups have taken the solemn responsibility to ensure that no differently-abled child ever drops out of school due to financial or infrastructural barriers.

Vocational Skill Training: Specialized skill-development centers are being planned for differently-abled youth above 18 to usher them into economic independence.

3. 'Samvedna Rath' –

Compassion on Wheels To reach the deep interiors of rural areas, the society decided to launch the 'Samvedna Rath' at the Taluka level. This mobile unit will travel village to village, spreading awareness about government welfare schemes and assisting villagers with on-the-spot application processing.

The Upcoming Project: 'Beejo Thar' (The Second Layer) During the festival, the blueprint for Labhubhai Sonani’s upcoming book and project, 'Beejo Thar', was unveiled: This project will distill 35 years of rich social service experience into a replicable 'social model' for other organizations.
